COMMUNICATION CAMPAIGN

National TVET is Cool campaign- Funded by European Union in Botswana
The Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sub-sector is seen as a major potential contributor to the development of a skilled workforce for Botswana, and therefore is taken as the one of the leading solutions to the country being a skill based knowledge-economy. The outcome of these efforts is expected to be competent, innovative and internationally competitive individuals, who can contribute to the socio-economic and technological advancement of the country, including employment creation and poverty eradication.
Unfortunately, TVET in Botswana has been previously wrongly perceived as the last possible choice for success; this is due to ‘failures’ in the academic stream that should allow for TVET programmes to be an option as good as tertiary education. Currently 80% of all BGCSE/ Form 5 students earn less than an average “C” Grade or worse. These students are later channeled into low qualification courses that most tertiary students tend to drop out from as seen in recent years with the growing rate of 1st year student drop outs and re-takes. This process results in an enormous amount of government resources being wasted and the students’ precious teenage/developing mind channeling their focus and efforts into inappropriate or unwanted studies that results in failure and no job prospects.
We believe students should be aware and interested in TVET programmes well before they leave secondary school and should embrace it from as early as Junior Secondary School. The importance of this campaign lies in rallying the general populous of Botswana into seeing and believing in TVET industries that can change the lives of the citizens and the economy of the country.

Our Marketing goals or campaign objectives are as follows:
1. To provide clear information on the possibilities TVET has to offer;
2. To convey a positive image of TVET which creates enthusiasm and appetite for TVET as a primary option to fulfil one's dreams;
3. To raise awareness of Government on the need to prioritize the promotion of TVET.
